Testing Mozilla Firefox Extensions

You can use one of the following two approaches to test a Mozilla Firefox extension (add-on) with Silk Test Workbench:
Install the extension as a .xpi file when starting Mozilla Firefox
To test a Mozilla Firefox extension that is installed as a .xpi file, add the following command line to the base state:
firefox.exe C:/myExtension/myExtension.xpi
Note: When starting Mozilla Firefox from the base state, the confirmation dialog that is by default shown by Mozilla Firefox when installing the extension is suppressed.
Testing a Mozilla Firefox extension that is installed as a .xpi file with Silk Test Workbench has the following limitations:
  • The .xpi file must exist in the local file system.
  • You can only install a single extension in Mozilla Firefox as a .xpi file. To install multiple extensions in Mozilla Firefox, add the extensions to a Mozilla Firefox profile.
Add the extension to a Mozilla Firefox profile
Add the extension to a Mozilla Firefox profile and use that profile for testing. For additional information, see Testing Mozilla Firefox with Profiles.
